Lloyd Charmoise surviving and thriving totally un-supplemented in harsh conditions

Brynwerydd is a small farm in West Wales run by Thomas and Sarah Lloyd. Conditions can be difficult with the land variable in nature, most is wet unimproved pasture with a small amount of improved pasture. Land averages 750 feet high with little shelter from the winds coming in off the Irish sea

The Maedi Visna accredited Charmoise flock has grown in number and increased in quality over the past ten years with the best of genetics sourced from the UK and direct from France. Our focus from the start has been to produce tougher sheep on lower inputs with function valued above form. We have challenged and continue to challenge our Charmoise to thrive in conditions harder than most commercial sheep are run in and cull accordingly. Due to increasing demand we made the decision to sell the commercial flock in 2017 to focus on Charmoise and now have one of the largest flocks in the country.
